Mark Walport has been appointed as the new director of the UK’s Wellcome Trust. He succeeds Mike Dexter, who retires from the Trust at the end of March following a five-year term as director. Walport is currently head of the division of medicine at Imperial College London, and will begin his new position on June 1.

Ardais of Lexington, Mass., has appointed Todd Golub, director for Cancer Genomics at the Whitehead/ MIT Center for Genome Research, to its scientific advisory board.
