LJL Receives Patent for SmartOptics

Premium

LJL BioSystems of Sunnyvale, Calif., received a patent for its SmartOptics light detection technology, designed for single-nucleotide polymorphism genotyping and drug discovery.

SmartOptics extracts signals from small volume samples, thus allowing scientists to miniaturize assays. This enables greater throughput at lower costs, the company said.

LJL has 65 issued, pending and provisional patents.
