NEW YORK (GenomeWeb news) – Life Technologies has completed the sale of its SQL*LIMS business to LabVantage Solutions for an undisclosed sum, finalizing a deal the companies struck at the end of June.
The acquisition gives the Bridgewater, NJ-based lab information management systems provider a system for tracking raw materials and samples, analyzing samples, collecting data, and communicating information to corporate systems.
Life Technologies President and COO Mark Stevenson said in a statement at the time the deal was made that, although the LIMS business was "an important asset for a segment of our customers, it was not a perfect fit with out strategic direction."
Life Technologies said today that it does not expect the sale to have a material affect on its financial status in fiscal year 2009.
