Jeffrey Moore, Mark Meyers, Ismail Kola, DC Rao


Informatics provider Scimagix of Redwood Shores, Calif., has hired Jeffrey Moore as director of database engineering and Mark Meyers as vice president of sales. Moore and Meyers will help to further develop and sell modules and applications for the company’s Scientific Image Management System, software to manage and mine images that are generated in drug discovery research and development.

Moore was formerly vice president of cheminformatics at Oxford Molecular Group where he led the development of the RS3 Discovery cheminformatics system.

Meyers was vice president of business development at EMAX Solutions and was Oxford’s US sales director before that.

EraGen Biosciences of Alachua, Fla., has elected Ismail Kola, vice president of research and global head of genomic sciences and pharmacogenomics at Pharmacia, to serve on its board of directors.

He is providing guidance as the company commercializes its nucleic acid and bioinformatics technologies and enters the pharmacogenomics arena.

His medical research has led to several key genomics discoveries including two cancer genes and the gene responsible for the characteristic facial features in people with Down Syndrome.

DNAPrint Genomics of Sarasota, Fla., announced that the company has added DC Rao, director of the division of biostatistics at Washington University in St. Louis, to its scientific advisory board. Rao has held this post at the university since 1980, and has been a professor of biostatistics since 1982. He holds joint appointments in the departments of psychiatry, genetics, and mathematics at Washington University.

His research in the field of genetic epidemiology includes the development of new methods to analyze and model genetic data.
