Jeff Augen, Deepak Thakkar, Elizabeth Holbrook

Jeff Augen has left his post as worldwide director of strategy for IBM’s Life Sciences business unit to join New Haven, Conn.-based TurboWorx (formerly TurboGenomics) as president. “I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to join a much smaller organization because TurboWorx’s intellectual property and software products are going to have an enormous impact on life science research efforts,”Augen said in a statement.

Tripos of St. Louis has appointed Deepak Thakkar, previously senior director of marketing for Silicon Genetics, as vice president of marketing. Thakkar has also held senior marketing, product development, and business development positions at Genometrix, Neomorphic, and Rosetta Inpharmatics. Tripos has also hired Elizabeth Holbrook, most recently a sales manager at Affymetrix and Ciphergen, as vice president of sales.
