Gene Logic has elected J. Stark Thompson as non-executive chairman of the board. The election follows the creation of two new management positions [BioInform 11.08.04], and stems from Gene Logic’s decision to “separate the roles of chairman and CEO,” the company said. Thompson was formerly president and CEO of Life Technologies.


InforSense has appointed three members to its scientific advisory board: Michael Liebman of the Windber Research Institute; Tim Clark of the Universität Erlangen-N rnberg; and Peter Donnelly of Oxford University.


Peter Tonellato has joined PointOne Systems as vice president of business development and CSO. Tonellato, who founded the Bioinformatics Research Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin, will leave his faculty appointment for a full time position at the company, which he founded in 2000.


Non-profit group Creative Commons has tapped John Wilbanks to serve as executive director of Science Commons, a newly formed branch of the organization that will address copyright issues related to scientific data. Wilbanks is currently a W3C fellow at the Worldwide Web Consortium focusing on the semantic web for life sciences.


IO Informatics has appointed Blaine Bowman and Richard Freyberg to its board of directors. Bowman is chairman of the board of directors of Dionex. Freyberg was previously CIO of Schwab Capital Markets.
