InforMax Unveils Drug Design Computer Tool

BETHESDA, Md.--InforMax, a bioinformatics company here, introduced its new Software Solution for Bio-Medicine (SSBM) product this month. InforMax CEO Alex Titomirov claimed that the product, which uses high-speed integration and automation, is "the first software system that allows drug designers to reduce the time and cost of target identification in the early stages of drug discovery, which currently accounts for 15 percent of the total cost of finding a new drug."

He added, "If you succeed at hitting the right target in this early stage, which is our goal with SSBM, then you'll dramatically reduce the overall expense for the remainder of the drug-discovery cycle."
