Geospiza Releases Finch-Suite, Gets SBIR Grant for Sequence Tools

SEATTLE--Geospiza announced the release of its Finch-Suite of bioinformatics software components, which includes Finch-Sequencing Request Manager; Finch-Chromatogram Manager; the Finch-Blast Manager; and Finch-Data Repository Manager, at the International Genome Sequencing and Analysis Conference in Miami Beach. These components can be added to a Finch-Server for end-to-end solutions for DNA sequencing and analysis. The suite links the latest algorithms with embedded relational database management system technology and uses web-based interfaces.

In other news, the company has received a Small Business Innovation Research grant to develop new expressed sequence tag clustering tools that incorporate information and comparative analyses to distinguish biological variation from experimental error and to detect alternatively spliced messages.
