GAITHERSBURG, Md.--Genomics and bioinformatics company Gene Logic announced that Mark Gessler has been appointed to the new position of president and chief operating officer. Gessler formerly served as senior vice-president of corporate development and chief financial officer for the company.
Michael Brennan, Gene Logic's CEO, said the creation of the position reflects the company's maturation. "During 1998 Gene Logic experienced dramatic growth in both its genomics and bioinformatics businesses, adding nine new collaborations with pharmaceutical companies," Brennan said. "In his new position, Mark will assume primary responsibility for internal operations, enabling Gene Logic to continue on its path of rapid growth."
