Exact Laboratories Is Granted Genomics Patent

AYNARD, Mass.--Exact Laboratories has been issued its seventh US patent, titled "Methods for the Detection of Loss of Heterozygosity," which describes methods for analyzing genetic variations, such as single-nucleotide polymorphisms for pharmacogenomics and genetics research, and enables many patient samples to be pooled for a single analysis. The company said the technology has the potential to accelerate the discovery of disease-associated genes and eventually lead to new targeted and effective pharmaceutical treatments. Exact is an applied genomics company developing proprietary, non-invasive, DNA-based screening tools for early detection of disease, especially cancer.
