Elias Adam Zerhouni, Mike Volker


Elias Adam Zerhouni began his new job as director of the National Institutes of Health last week, filling a post that had been vacant for over two years.

Zerhouni was most recently executive vice dean of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, chair of the Russell H. Morgan department of radiology and radiological science, and Martin Donner professor of radiology and professor of biomedical engineering.

Mike Volker, director of the University Industry Liaison Office at Simon Fraser University, has joined Burnaby, British Columbia-based Genops Bioinformatics as a director. Volker has been involved with a number of technology startups in British Columbia.

Separately, Genops announced last week that BC Advanced Systems Institute, a Vancouver-based non-profit foundation, invested $100,000 in the company.
