GenomeQuest has launched DrugBank Pro, a database of sequence and annotation information on all approved drugs, their targets, and their metabolizing enzymes available in the University of Alberta's DrugBank database.
GenomeQuest said that it has signed an exclusive relationship with the university that allows it to provides this information six months prior to its release on the public DrugBank site. DrugBank Pro also offers access to the University of Alberta’s non-public investigational new drug database of drugs in clinical trials.
BioDiscovery has released ImaGene 8.0. New features in the microarray image-analysis software include improved auto-gridding, faster processing for dense arrays, and support for multi-sample arrays. The company said that the software includes an improved auto-segmentation algorithm that removes “speckle noise,” an improved auto-grid placement algorithm, and improved quantification time for large arrays. ImaGene 8.0 includes analysis modules for expression as well as array comparative genomic hybridization arrays.
The University of Iowa has released PhyloSort 1.3, an open-source Java tool for sorting phylogenetic trees by searching for subtrees that contain a monophyletic group of interest defined by operational taxonomic units.
The US Department of Energy’s Joint Genome Institute has released an upgraded version of the IMG/M metagenome data management and analysis system.
The new version of IMG/M includes five additional metagenome datasets, including the metagenomic and functional analysis of termite hindgut microbiota and the single-cell genetic analysis of TM7, a microbe from the human mouth.
IMG/M now contains 2,953 genomes, including 819 bacterial, 50 archaeal, 40 eukaryotic, and 2,044 viruses.
Genotypes and frequency data for HapMap data release 23 are now available for bulk download here. The release includes all processed data from the HapMap project, and all data from phases I and II of the project. It also contains genotypes from around 82,000 new assays on the Affymetrix 6.0 genotyping array, as well as SNPs excluded from release 22.
