Illumina has released a version of the Broad Institute’s Integrative Genomics Viewer as the first app for its BaseSpace cloud infrastructure.

The IGV app displays alignment and variant data from BaseSpace, which allows users to perform variant analysis after launching resequencing or amplicon workflows in BaseSpace. The app also includes a file explorer that lets users navigate their project data within IGV.

The IGV app is also available on github.

Ensembl release 69 is available here.

This release includes updates to human dbSNP and to human somatic variants from the Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer. It also includes two new species — ferret (Mustela putorius furo) and platyfish (Xiphophorus maculatus) — among other updates.

Thomson Reuters has released Cortellis for Information Integration, a new capability within the Cortellis platform that enables organizations to integrate internal, public, and vendor data into a central location for life science research and analysis.

According to the developers, the tool streamlines data distribution and helps companies adapt solutions to meet their specific information delivery strategies. Clients can use its ontologies to align disparate external and internal content with scientific and pharmaceutical competitive intelligence.

BT is working with Aspera to integrate the latter’s file transfer technology into BT for Life Sciences R&D, a cloud service that is designed to support collaboration within the life sciences industry.

According to the partners, the arrangement will support secure, predictable and scalable transfers regardless of the size of data, the distance between the endpoints and network conditions.
