The latest release of the system can integrate flat-file, XML, and relational databases into a single system. It also offers virtual libraries to give users flexibility in presenting data to their customers, support for additional indexing technologies, and improved application launching capabilities.
SRS 6.1 was introduced at the SRS User Meeting last week in Cambridge, UK.
A public release of the GeneX Gene Expression Database system is now available from the National Center for Genome Resources at http://genex.ncgr.org.
GeneX is an open source project and is licensed under the GNU LGPL. It provides a basic working system that includes installation scripts, example data, a Genex.pm Perl wrapper API to the database, utilities to manipulate the XML transport format, and analytical tools that can be used with data from the database or with data uploaded directly.
GeneX supports multiple kinds of array data and can share data via XML.
