DeCode Extends Deal with Affymetrix to Use GeneChip


REYKJAVIK, Iceland--DeCode Genetics has extended its contract with Affymetrix to gain access to GeneChip technology for use in gene expression monitoring and genotyping applications. The companies said they also plan to continue collaborative work focused on optimizing chip-based single-nucleotide polymorphism genotyping applications.

Kari Stefansson, president and CEO of DeCode, said the agreement fits in with DeCode's plans to add alternative gene discovery and gene function tools to its existing technology portfolio.
