Danish Multiomics Firm Cmbio Acquires Eagle Genomics Software Assets

NEW YORK — Danish multiomics firm Cmbio said Friday that it has acquired the software platform of Eagle Genomics, a UK-based developer of bioinformatics tools.

The deal was completed as an asset purchase agreement with corporate recovery and insolvency firm CBW Recovery and Eagle Genomics, Cmbio said. Financial and other terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 2008, Eagle Genomics offered a range of cloud-based genomic and microbiome data analysis and management services through its E[datascientist] software platform. In late 2023, the company closed a $3.6 million extension to a $20 million funding round announced the year before.

Through the acquisition, Cmbio said it has picked up all of the intellectual property related to Eagle's business, which will help it expand its own multiomics offerings.

Cmbio was formed in November as a tie-up of several previously independent companies including Clinical Microbiomics, CosmosID, MS-Omics, DNASense, and Microba's research services unit.

The Eagle Genomics asset acquisition "reflects our ongoing strategy to add complementary technologies that strengthen our position as the preferred partner within multiomics services worldwide," Cmbio Chairman Manoj Dadlani said in a statement.
