Clive Brown, George Skip Shimer


Solexa, a Little Chestorford, UK-based developer of sequencing technology, has appointed Clive Brown as head of bioinformatics. Brown was formerly a bioinformatics consultant for Oxford GlycoSciences, where he helped build the Protein Atlas of the Human Genome marketed by the OGS spin-out Confirmant. Brown also held bioinformatics research positions at the Wellcome Trust Center for Human Genetics, GlaxoWellcome, and the Sanger Institute.


Systems biology startup Cellicon Biotechnologies has tapped George “Skip” Shimer as its CEO. Prior to joining the Boston-based firm, Shimer served as VP of research at Cubist Pharmaceuticals. Before that, he was the senior director of pathogen genomics at Genome Therapeutics.
