PALO ALTO, Calif.--Caliper Technologies announced that it will collaborate with scientists at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory on a $1.4 million Department of Energy Grant to develop high-throughput laboratory-on-a-chip systems to perform proteomics analysis on Caliper's LabChip platform.
Caliper's LabChip platform functions like a "liquid integrated circuit" by managing complex laboratory processes on the surface of a microchip, dramatically miniaturizing, automating, and accelerating laboratory analysis.
To further develop this proteomics program and broaden the capabilities of Caliper's microfluidics technology, Caliper founder and key technologist Mike Ramsey and Oak Ridge scientist Rose Ramsey have joined the Caliper team through a one-year sabbatical from Oak Ridge.
