Bryan Koontz, Trevor Heritage, Scott Kahn

Tripos said last week that it has promoted Bryan Koontz to senior vice president and general manager of discovery informatics. He replaces Trevor Heritage, who is leaving Tripos to pursue other interests, the company said in a statement. Heritage had been with the company since 1994. Koontz was formerly CEO of Optive Research, and joined Tripos as vice president of marketing and corporate development when the company acquired Optive in January.

Scott Kahn, formerly CSO of Accelrys, has joined Illumina as vice president and chief information officer. Kahn will be responsible for all scientific software and information technology at Illumina. Prior to working at Accelrys, Kahn served in product-development and marketing roles at BioCAD and Molecular Simulations. An Accelrys spokesman told BioInform that Kahn left the company a month ago, and that Accelrys is currently seeking a replacement.
