MONTREAL--At the official launch of a "Campaign for a New Millennium" at Concordia University here recently, a pledge of $1.1 million to establish a biotechnology and bioinformatics facility was announced. The gift came from Francesco Bellini, president and CEO of BioChem Pharma.
Bellini's gift was part of $33.4 million that has already been raised toward the campaign goal of $55 million. The campaign aims to assure the future contributions of an institution vital to the economic development of Montreal and its reputation as a center for higher education and research, university officials said.
