A Novel Chemical Genomics Methodology

Proposal to develop a molecular informatics analysis method to correlate biological information, such as gene expression patterns, with activity profiles of therapeutic agents. A database will be built to store data on the effects of compound treatment on gene expression patterns for various cell lines.

 

Development of a Primate Genomics Resource

The Washington Regional Primate Research Center plans to establish a Primate Genomics Resource to support research on nonhuman primates. Aims include constructing a BAC genomic library and cDNA libraries from rhesus macaque; constructing nonhuman primate cDNA microarrays; and developing bioinformatics resources for the storage, interpretation, visualization, and dissemination of primate genomics data.

 

Angiogenesis Genomics and Bioinformatics Core

Goal of the project is to provide access to transcriptional profiling technologies to examine differential mRNA expression during spatial and temporal regulation of angiogenesis in different model systems. The core facility will consult and train researchers on functional genomics and bioinformatics; provide standardized methods for quality control and validation of microarray experiments; develop bioinformatics and biostatistics software tools for microarray analysis and data mining; and develop a standardized database and interactive web-based Angiogenesis Research Portal.

 

Biomedical Informatics Training Program

UCI will establish a training emphasis in bioinformatics in its information and computer science department and will set up an interdisciplinary graduate training program in biomedical informatics with training faculty from ICS and the College of Medicine.

 

Biomedical and Health Informatics Training Program

Training proposal will fund stipends for four new pre-doctoral students per year for the existing graduate program and will support a formal research program for four new trainees per year.

 

Database Development and Modeling of Signal Transduction

Project will develop a relational database to integrate data sets from multiple experimental signal transduction approaches and will also develop hierarchical clustering models for the computational analysis of the data generated. Long-term goals include testing specific aspects of these models in living cells.
