SRI International has released version 9.1 of the BioCyc databases at http://BioCyc.org/. The latest version includes 10,747 peer-reviewed publications references in the EcoCyc database; 62 new pathways in MetaCyc, bringing the total to 601 pathways from 456 organisms; and an updated pathway genome database for Bacillus anthracis Ames to include the plasmids PX01 and PX02, and 24 proteins that were assigned to the secretome.


Bioconductor 1.6 is available at http://www.bioconductor.org/. This release includes many new packages as well as improvements and bug fixes to existing packages, and is designed to worth with R 2.1.x.


The Fox Chase Cancer Center has released MolIDE, an open-source cross-platform graphical environment for homology modeling. It is available for Windows and Linux and is free for both non-profit and commercial users at http://dunbrack.fccc.edu/molide.


An alpha release of Merlin 1.0 is available from the University of Michigan at http://www.sph.umich.edu/csg/abecasis/merlin. New features in the statistical genetics package include modeling of linkage disequilibrium between markers, parametric linkage analysis, and improved non-parametric linkage analysis. The release also includes several minor bug fixes.


The Chemical Abstracts Service, a division of the American Chemical Society, has released version 8.0 of its STN Express database search tool, which includes the ability to analyze multi-component chemical substances as well as other enhancements for chemical structure analysis and reporting. In addition, CAS and FIZ Karlsruhe have released STN AnaVist, a new software package for analyzing and viewing information found in scientific literature and patents.


Infotrieve has released the Life Science Research Center, a web-based research tool for searching the scientific literature, patents, pipeline news, product catalogs, and experimental protocol databases using a single login.
