NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – BGI said today that it will begin offering NRGene's products as part of its genomics analysis services for use in agricultural research projects.
NRGene provides tools for genomic assessment and assembly. Its DeNovoMagic software is used to generate accurate reference genomes quickly and cost effectively, while its PanMagic solution tools are used for genome-to-genome mapping. Users can also visualize different kinds of variations present within genomes undergoing analysis, including SNPs, insertions and deletions.
In a statement, BGI Tech CEO Gao Qiang described NRGene's solutions as complimentary to BGI's offerings, and noted that "the combined technologies will transform Asian agriculture."
NRGene CEO Gil Ronen added that partnership with BGI will help move his company's tools "into other markets that are primed to accelerate their research."
Financial and other terms of the agreement were not disclosed
NRGene signed a similar deal with Illumina earlier this year to co-market its DeNovoMagic solution with Illumina's sequencers.
