NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – BC Platforms announced today that it has formed a partnership with Auria Biobank to develop and deploy a genomic data management system for use with the Finnish biorepository's collection of human biosamples.
Established in 2012, Auria currently holds nearly one million formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue samples, including many tumor samples, as well as blood and serum samples. Under the deal, BC Platforms will help Auria develop a system to handle genomic data derived from these samples, as well as assume responsibility for the system's maintenance. The system may also be made available to other biobanks, the partners said
Additional terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.
"The goal in the future is to integrate genomic data with clinical information to further medical research and innovation," Auria Director Heli Salminen-Mankonen said in a statement. "We hope that this provides a research and innovation platform to improve clinical decision making to deliver better patient outcomes and yield more personalized healthcare in the future in Finland."
