Andrew Conway, Saeid Akhtari, Edward Rubin, Trevor Hawkins


Andrew Conway has stepped down from his role as CEO of Silicon Genetics. Saeid Akhtari has been promoted from the position of COO to replace Conway, who will continue in his role of executive chairman of the board of directors and will also continue to evaluate new technologies for the company.

After a “nationwide search,” the US DOE’s Joint Genome Institute has bumped Edward Rubin up to director from interim director, a position he has held since the departure of former director Trevor Hawkins in the spring of 2002. Rubin was also named director of the genomics division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. In a statement, Rubin remarked that one of his immediate goals would be to encourage broader use of the JGI’s DNA data sets.
