Affymetrix Using Pangea Tools in GeneChip Design

OAKLAND, Calif.--Affymetrix has licensed computational tools from Pangea Systems to streamline the design process for its GeneChip arrays. David Balaban, senior director of bioinformatics and information systems at Affymetrix, said that Pangea's software has the potential to help Affymetrix enhance quality and reduce design time for new commercial oligonucleotide arrays. Pangea's products facilitate rapid clustering and alignment of expressed-sequence tags and full length sequences and can integrate data from public and proprietary databases. Financial terms of the multi-year license were not disclosed.
