StarLIMS Technologies, a subsidiary of Abbott Laboratories, has bought several distributors of its laboratory information management systems in an effort to improve services for its European customers.
StarLIMS, which was acquired by Abbott in 2009 (BI 12/18/2009), bought Varilab, its French distributor; two privately held Spanish businesses that will now operate as StarLIMS Iberica; a privately held Dutch company, now operating as StarLIMS Netherlands, with a branch office in Solna, Sweden; and StarLIMS Israel.
The company has also established an office in Witten, Germany, to provide direct support for its German and Swiss customers.
Financial details of the acquisitions were not disclosed.
