University of Pennsylvania researchers share a computational strategy for clustering individual cells and exploring sub-clonal phylogeny based on single-cell RNA sequencing data. The analytical approach — known as "DNA-based evolutionary tree prediction by scRNA-seq technology," or DENDRO — relies on point mutation clues from scRNA-seq profiles, while taking technical noise and stochastic expression into account, the team says.
