OriGene Buys Marligen Biosciences

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – OriGene Technologies has acquired Marligen Biosciences, a privately held seller of DNA and RNA purification kits and multiplex assays for genotyping, microRNA profiling, and transcription factor activity analysis.

Rockville, Md.-based OriGene makes gene cloning and gene expression tools. OriGene raised $6.5 million earlier this year in a private equity financing to support its acquisition of Shenzhen P&A Biotech, a manufacturer of monoclonal antibodies.

The firms did not disclose the purchase price.
