Bioo Scientific Awarded $100K from NSF to Advance miRNA Rx Research with Mirna

Premium

Bioo Scientific announced this week that it has received $100,000 from the National Science Foundation to support its development of a microRNA-based therapeutic in collaboration with Mirna Therapeutics.

According to the company, the drug is a mimic of miR-34, which plays a key role in the p53 tumor-suppressor pathway. It was developed by Mirna, and the companies are exploring its delivery using Bioo Scientific's targeted transport technology, which uses a positively charged carrier compound and a targeting antibody specific to a cell surface receptor.
