Tm Bioscience has rolled out its Tag-It Mutation Detection Kit for P450-2D6.

The test initially targets mutations related to coagulation and cystic fibrosis in the cytochrome P450 drug-metabolizing genes. Additional tests will follow “as more genetic markers gain clinical acceptance,” Tm Bioscience said.

The kit will test for 13 variants in the P450-2D6 gene. In addition to point mutations, the kit will identify patients with deletions and patients with multiple copies of the gene.

VizX Labs has launched a new version of its GeneSifter.net gene expression-analysis platform. Updates found in Version 2003.3 include an addition to the system’s One-Click function that offers links to metabolic pathway diagrams. The new release also includes technology that enables users to export data and create graphics.

DNA Software has launched Visual OMP 3, the latest product to come out of the company’s Oligonucleotide Modeling Platform. Visual OMP 3, which is available for the Microsoft Windows operating environment, enables researchers to design multiple sets of primers and probes that are “optimized for specific experiments yet reduce cross-hybridization and mishybridization between oligos and targets,” DNA Software said.
