Thure Etzold, Joseph Donahue, Iqbal Grewal, Morris Rosenberg, Paul Carter, Aaron Shatkin, and Kevin Farr


Daniel Keesman, co-CEO and chief operating officer, and Martin Hollenhorst, co-CEO and CFO, as well as all three members of the supervisory board of Lion Bioscience — J rgen Dormann, Klaus Pohle, and Richard Roy — have resigned, the company said last week. Thure Etzold, managing director for Lion Bioscience UK, and Joseph Donahue, chief business officer for Lion Bioscience in North America, have been appointed as co-CEOs. Etzold will be responsible for product development and services, and Donahue will assume responsibility for finance and administration.

Seattle Genetics announced three new appointments and promotions this week: Iqbal Grewal has become vice president for preclinical therapeutics, joining the company from Genentech, where he was a senior scientist in the department of immunology. He holds a PhD in immunology from the University of California Los Angeles, an MS in immunobiology from the University of Aberdeen in the UK, and a BS in biology and chemistry from Punjab University in India. Morris Rosenberg has been promoted to senior vice president of development, from vice president of development. He holds a DSc and an MS in chemical engineering and a BA in biology from Washington University in St. Louis. Paul Carter has been promoted to vice president for antibody technologies, from senior director for antibody technologies. He received a PhD in molecular biology and a BA in natural sciences from Cambridge University.

Aaron Shatkin has been elected to the board of directors of Serologicals, the company said last week. Shatkin is currently the director of the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine, as well as a professor of molecular genetics and microbiology at the Robert W. Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ. He is also a professor of molecular biology at Rutgers University.

Kevin Farr has been elected to the board of directors of Beckman Coulter, effective Oct. 8, the company said last week. He is the chief financial officer for Mattel. Farr holds an MBA from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.
