Applied DNA Sciences has hired Ralph Brier as vice president of sales and marketing.

Brier comes to Applied DNA Sciences from Sagem Morpho, where he was senior commercial, channel, and OEM business executive of biometric software, smart card implementation, and hardware.

Brier was also a national sales manager for Parana Supplies, a Torrance, Calif.-based division of Epson-Seiko, where he was responsible for their retail office products division and distribution channels.


Invitrogen has hired Cheri Walker as vice president of corporate development, and Mark Gardner as vice president of process improvement.

Walker comes to the company from Deutsche Bank, where she was vice president of North American equity research. Gardner, meantime, comes to Invitrogen from General Electric Medical Systems, where he performed Six Sigma and acquisition integration.


PamGene International has appointed four new members to its scientific advisory board: Bertrand Jordan, who is experienced in the fields of large-scale transcript analyis and genomics research; Daniel Chan, professor of pathology, oncology, urology and radiology at the John Hopkins University Medical School; Herb Heyneker, who has more than 20 years of R&D experience in molecular genetics with several biotechnology companies; and Peter Lockey, director of biochemistry and high-throughput screening for Argenta Discovery.


Entelos has named Mikhail Gishizky chief scientific officer. Gishizky joins Entelos from Sugen/Pharmacia, where he was vice president of target discovery. At Sugen/Pharmacia, he established the human cancer genetics program.

NaPro Biotherapeutics has named Anne Bailey as vice president of diagnostics and reagents, and general manager of the company’s genomics division. She indirectly replaces Jeffrey White, who will step down Jan. 2 from his post as president of the company’s genomics division “to pursue other opportunities.”

Bailey was most recently vice president of diagnostics at Variagenics, which merged with Hyseq in February to become

. Bailey has also held management positions at Avitech Diagnostics, Photest Diagnostics, and Metpath.
