Chad Richards has joined Transgenomic as senior vice president of sales and marketing. Richards was national sales director in the cancer diagnostics division at Quest Diagnostics. Before that, he was in marketing and sales management at Ventana Medical Systems.
 

 
Louis Tartaglia, who resigned as chief scientific officer of Gene Logic in June, moved into a special advisory role, the company stated in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission last week. According to the filing, Tartaglia began his one-year stint as an advisor Sept. 1. Gene Logic will pay him a $25,000 retainer per year plus $150 per hour for his services.
 

 
GeneExpress has appointed Hannah Monds director of business development, a position which she will handle licensing for the company’s StaRT-PCR technology and will manage business relations. Monds was previously at AAIPharma, where she was involved in lab analysis of pharmaceuticals and was manager of the company’s Stability Management services.
 

 
Bill Craumer, who formerly was director of corporate marketing and communications at Illumina, has been named director of investor relations at Applied Biosystems.
