By a GenomeWeb staff reporter

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – BIT Analytical Instruments has acquired French OEM diagnostics instruments firm C2 Diagnostics for an undisclosed sum.

Schwalbach, Germany-based BIT said that the deal will enable it to offer a larger range of services and technologies offered in the areas of clinical chemistry, immunology, and molecular diagnostics.

Monpellier, France-based C2 specializes in developing OEM instruments and has delivered and sold more than 10,000 instruments to small and mid-size diagnostic labs worldwide, said BIT. It added that C2 is currently focused on developing a hematology instrument.

Among BIT's other holdings is Irvine, Calif.-based Source Scientific, which also makes a variety of diagnostics instruments, including those used for molecular diagnostic purposes.
