Applied Biosystems, Pharmo-Gene

Applied Biosystems has launched BioMonitor, a device that enables researchers to remotely monitor the ABI PRISM 3100, 3730, and 3730xl gene analyzers. The instrument, which is available to contract and warranty customers, allows ABI to remotely monitor and analyze the operational parameters from each instrument attached to the system. This, in turn, enables remote diagnostics and failure prediction.

Pharmo-Gene has released its Pharmo-Gene A polymer mirror microarray substrate in North America, and is looking for a commercialization partner. PGA substrates have a highly reflective backside surface that the company claims can increase signal-to-noise ratio on all fluorescent detection instruments. Pharmo-Gene currently sells the chips in China, Japan, and elsewhere in Asia.
