Affymetrix and Parallele BioScience this week launched a series of MegAllele assays for SNP genotyping, the companies said in a statement. The assays run on Affy's GeneChip 3000 and the new line is available with a four-color capability for "easily and cost- effectively" genotyping panels containing as many as 10,000 custom or pre-defined SNPs, the companies said.

Affymetrix this week also launched the GeneChip Scanner 3000 7G, whichcan analyze microarrays featuring "500 percent more data than previous generations," the company said. The platform can scan features "ranging in size from 2.5 um to 0.51um," and it "supports the latest high-density GeneChip microarrays for tiling, all-exon and single nucleotide polymorphism genotyping research, the company said.
