Sorenson Genomics, MDxHealth Accredited by CAP

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Sorenson Genomics and MDxHealth today separately announced they have each received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists.

Based in Salt Lake City, Sorenson Genomics is the parent company of direct access DNA testing service firm Identigene and forensic DNA testing company Sorenson Forensics. Sorenson Genomics' laboratories specialize in molecular diagnostics, STD testing, parentage testing, forensic DNA analysis, and contract research analysis.

MDxHealth develops epigenetic-based tests for assessing cancer and the personalized treatment of patients. Its CLIA lab in Irvine, Calif., provides the ConfirmMDx test for prostate cancer.

Accreditation from CAP follows an examination of the lab's records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years. Laboratory staff qualifications, lab equipment, facilities, safety program, and record are also reviewed.
