CombiMatrix has hired pediatric pathologist R. Weslie Tyson as its new chief medical officer. Tyson will join his new post on April 8 and report to CEO Mark McDonough. He will replace Richard Hockett who previously served as the company's chief medical officer.

Tyson, a pediatric and perinatal pathologist for more than two decades, comes to CombiMatrix from UniPath, a pathology group that serves several hospitals and labs. There, he founded the pediatric/neonatology section and was in charge of pediatric and perinatal services since 1999.
