GenMark, Advanced Liquid Logic to Collaborate on IVD Platform

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – GenMark Diagnostics and Advanced Liquid Logic today announced a Heads of Agreement defining the terms of a partnership to develop an all-electronic fully integrated in vitro diagnostic platform.

The platform will combine GenMark's proprietary electrochemical detection and ALL's proprietary electrowetting technology.

GenMark President and CEO Hany Massarany said in a statement that the new technology will deliver a digital sample-to-answer platform. The initial focus will be on multiplex molecular testing, followed by efforts in other diagnostic areas including protein detection and point-of-care testing.

Financial and other terms were not disclosed.

Durham, NC-based Advanced Liquid Logic develops microfluidics products for newborn screening and genomic sample preparation.

The deal follows GenMark's announcement last week that it had licensed microfluidics IP from PerkinElmer for multiplexed molecular testing applications.
