NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Life Technologies this week said that it will invest $20 million in expanding its cell culture facility in Inchinnan, Scotland.

LifeCodexx, a subsidiary of German sequencing service provider GATC Biotech, plans to launch its non-invasive prenatal trisomy 21 test, called LifeCodexx PraenaTest, in the second quarter of this year, the company said this week.

LifeCodexx of Konstanz, Germany, will expand its laboratory next year to provide sequencing capacity for its upcoming non-invasive prenatal diagnostic test for trisomy 21, its parent company GATC Biotech said last week.

Sequencing service provider GATC Biotech said last week that it plans to expand its labs at its headquarters in Konstanz, Germany, and to open a new sequencing laboratory in Cologne next year.

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Sequenom announced today that it has partnered with LifeCodexx to provide prenatal laboratory testing services in Europe.

A Sequenom official said that if another company "wanted to offer a trisomy 21 [laboratory-developed test], they would need to come through us" to license the technology.
