The deal, which comes about three months after Lifecode's acquisition by MedGenome, marks Vela's first foray into the genomic data interpretation market.

The acquisition will give India's MedGenome access to a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited laboratory in the Bay Area so that it can expand its operations in the US.

The previously undisclosed Series A Round financing was led by Sequoia Capital, Mayo Clinic, and Mayo Ventures.
