NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Cypher Genomics has signed a co-promotion agreement with Illumina that lets the sequencing vendor offer Cypher's Coral biomarker discovery service to pharmaceutical companies.

BioBase said this week that Cypher Genomics has selected its GenomeTrax database solution to help with interpreting genomic variants in next-generation sequencing data.

GeneTalk, an informatics startup based in Berlin, is hoping to make its bread and butter by providing customers with algorithms to prioritize disease variants and a forum through which they can find additional information about these variants from others in the community.

Software vendors attempting to tap into the nascent clinical sequencing market are taking steps to ensure that their offerings toe the lines set by federal agencies to ensure the privacy and security of patient information.
