In a pharmacogenetic investigation conducted by researchers in the Netherlands, Bayer's Nexavar was not able to improve survival in patients with KRAS-mutated non-small cell lung cancer.

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Protagen today announced a collaboration with Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals aimed at clinically validating diagnostic biomarkers for endometriosis.

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – MediSapiens today announced that it and Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals have reached an agreement to develop a platform for the analysis of cancer genomics data.

The company has signed an agreement with biopharmaceutical firm SuppreMol to use its UNIarray technology to identify autoantibody signatures of SLE patients enrolled in a phase IIa study of SuppreMol's lead therapeutic SM101.

The deal marks the first pharma alliance for Evotec since it acquired Kinaxo in mid-April in a deal worth up to $23 million.

Dubbed OncoTrack, the project is being funded for five years with around €27 million, and will involve whole-genome sequencing of the primary tumors of 60 colon cancer patients and matched normal genomes.

The BATTLE trial was the first prospective, adaptively randomized study in pretreated non-small cell lung cancer patients that mandated tumor profiling with “real time” biopsies. The 255 patients in the trial were adaptively randomized to four arms — erlotinib, vandetanib, erlotinib plus bexarotene, or sorafenib — based on their biomarker profiles.

OncoTrack, a new international consortium, will seek to generate high-quality genomic and epigenetic data from clinically well-defined colon cancer tumors and their metastases as part of its colon cancer project.

The agreement broadens an earlier molecular and pathway activation profiling deal directed at cancer that the two firms had reached in March.

Ligon is "pleased" with its partnership, not only because of the revenue stream it will provide the year-old Harvard University spinout, but because it could lead to similar partnerships with other pharmaceutical clients.
