Sanjay Chikarmane
Illumina has named Sanjay Chikarmane its senior vice president and general manager of its enterprise informatics business. He takes over from Nick Naclerio who served as the founding general manager of the business unit. Naclerio will return to his role as senior vice president of corporate development for the company full time.
In his new role, Chikarmane will lead the development and commercialization of products and services for analyzing and making sense of genomic data in research and clinical contexts. He will report to Illumina President, Francis deSouza.
Chikarmane joins Illumina with more than 20 years of experience in the enterprise software market working with companies such as HP, BEA Systems and most recently, SAP.
Peter Murray
IDBS has hired Peter Murray to serve as its chief technology officer. In the role, Murray will be responsible for directing IDBS' vision and technology ambitions. Prior to joining the company, Murray held CTO and VP roles at Daktari, Quantrix, GoFish.com, and Seafax, among other companies. He also previously consulted for IDBS on technology strategy and architecture.
Robert Verfurth, William LaRue
Applied Proteomics has named Robert Verfurth vice president, sales and appointed William LaRue to the company's board.
Verfurth was previously vice president, sales and marketing for Innovus Pharmaceuticals. Prior to that, he was vice president of sales of BQ kits and business development for Apricus Biosciences.
LaRue was senior vice president and chief financial officer at Cadence Pharmaceuticals. He also serves on the board of Tracon Pharmaceuticals.
Wang Jun
Wang Jun is resigning from his post as CEO of BGI in order to head the creation of a new business in the artificial intelligence space, the company said recently. Wang has been at BGI since 1999. He will remain on BGI's board as a managing partner.
