S. Wayne Kay, Thomas Umbel, and more
OncoGenesis has appointed S. Wayne Kay its president and COO effective Sept. 1. Also, Nico Arnold has joined the multiplex molecular cervical cancer screening firm as senior vice president, business and market development, and Brian Sunkel was appointed vice president, marketing and business development.
Kay replaces Thomas Umbel, who will remain on OncoGenesis' board. Kay was most recently the founding president and CEO of Wireless Diagnostic Systems and s2a Molecular. Both are spinouts of the California Institute of Technology.
Arnoldhas more than 30 years of experience in the diagnostics industry and was previously executive vice president, global commercial operations for Cepheid. Sunkel brings more than 25 years of experience in commercializing new technologies. He was director of international sales and marketing at Adeza Biomedical when it was acquired by Cytyc/Hologic.
Mark Winham
Human Longevity has appointed Mark Winham its chief operating officer. He will be responsible for managing all of the company's sequencing, laboratory, and product pipeline operations as well as all facility operations. Winham comes to Human Longevity from Millennium Health, where he was COO and was primarily responsible for strategic planning, development of laboratory operations, and R&D activities. Prior to Millennium Health, Winham spent 10 years at Life Technologies, where he held a series of positions including vice president of global manufacturing.
Ravi Jain
Ravi Jain has joined the University of California, Santa Cruz Genomics Institute as its managing director. Working with the institute's scientific director David Haussler, Jain will oversee its strategic planning, business development, operations, and other functions. He joins the institute from software development and bioinformatics consulting firm cBio, which he co-founded and where he was its president and CEO. He has a Ph.D. in molecular evolution from UCLA.
Dave Henderson
Epic Sciences has appointed Dave Henderson as chief information officer Henderson has more than 20 years of experience in information technologies. He comes most recently from Sequenom where he was CIO and was a key member of an executive team that developed a commercialization plan for the company, implementing systems to support its ISO certification, FDA submissions, and laboratory-developed diagnostic tests. He has also held a position as vice president of TV systems support for Paramount Pictures.
