People in the News: Kevin Krenitsky, Udit Batra, and more

Kevin Krenitsky, Timothy Dec

OpGen announced two new appointments to the firm, including the appointment of Kevin Krenitsky as president. He takes over the role from Evan Jones, who will remain CEO and chairman of OpGen, according to a document filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Krenitsky joins the company, which filed for an initial public offering last month, from Foundation Medicine, where he was chief commercial officer and senior vice president of international strategy. Before that, he was president of Enzo Clinical Labs. 

Also, OpGen named Timothy Dec as its interim CFO, effective April 22. He replaces Eric Winzer, who resigned from OpGen effective May 1. Dec has been CFO and SVP of Clubwidesports, a sports management software firm. Prior to that, he was CFO and SVP of Fortress International.


Udit Batra

Merck KGaA announced Udit Batra will lead the combined business resulting from the German firm's $17 billion acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich. The deal is expected to be completed mid-2015. Batra has been CEO and president of Merck since March 2014. He joined the company in 2011 as head of its consumer health business.


Marie Oh Huber

Marie Oh Huber is resigning from Agilent Technologies as vice president, general counsel, and secretary of the company, effective May 1. Hajime Tada was appointed interim general counsel, effective May 1. Agilent said that it has started a search process for Huber's replacement. 


Scott Storrer

Strand Life Sciences has appointed Scott Storrer to the position of global president. In the role, Storrer will oversee the company's operations worldwide with a focus on strategy and business expansion.

Storrer joined Strand last year as the company's president of North American operations. Before he joined Strand, he was president and CEO of Genomind, and before that, he held several leadership positions at Cardinal Health. Earlier in his career, Storrer was executive vice president, service and information technology with Cigna.
