Joseph Smith, Bill Murray
Cepheid said that Joseph Smith will retire from the firm as executive vice president and general counsel and will be replaced by Bill Murray.
Smith joined Cepheid in 2003 and has led the company's legal and business development. Murray's will take over for Smith effective Jan. 1, 2016. He also will continue as chief privacy officer, a position he currently holds in addition to being vice president of Oncology IP. Murray has been with the company since 2010, and in addition to establishing the firm's oncology collaborations and licenses with numerous universities, Murray has led Cepheid's worldwide commercial operations legal support.
Grant Ries
Institute for Systems Biology spinout Arivale announced Grant Ries has joined the firm as chief revenue officer. Ries is the co-founder and former chief revenue officer of BlueKai. He was also a vice president of sales and strategic partnerships at Oracle.
Roy Davis
Immunexpress has appointed Roy Davis as chief medical officer. Davis served from 2002 through 2013 as chief medical officer of Providence Health and Services' Alaska region. He was named the Microsoft Investigator of the Year for his work with the modified early warning system in 2012. From 1986 to 1998, Davis was a clinical assistant professor with the WAMI program in the department of pediatrics at the University of Washington.
Glenn Muir
Former Hologic CFO Glenn Muir was appointed to G1 Therapeutics' board. Muir also is on the boards of RainDance Technologies, Rewalk Robotics, and Replenigen. He received his MBA from the Harvard Business School.
