NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Enzo Biochem's shareholders have re-elected Barry Weiner and Bernard Kasten to continue serving on its board of directors for three-year terms, the company said in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission this week.

Weiner is the company’s president, CFO, and principal accounting officer.


Lumora said this week that it has appointed Hayden Jeffreys to its board of directors.

Jeffreys joined Lumora from Lab21 in January 2013 as commercial director, and has since been instrumental in securing a number of deals with global companies and organizations, as well as marketing Lumora's patented heat elution sample preparation technology, the company said.

Prior to Lab21, Jeffreys held positions at Invitron, Gen-Probe (now part of Hologic), and Molecular Light Technology.


Epic Sciences has tapped Michael Rodriguez to be company CFO.

Rodriguez previously was COO at Clarient Diagnostic Services, where he led a group of more than 350 people in lab operations, IT, quality assurance, and other areas. He also formerly was senior VP and CFO at Endocare, executive VP and CFO of Directfit, and an executive at Tickets.com and EDiX Corporation.


Arizona State University's Biodesign Institute has appointed Cheryl Selinsky as senior director and chief operating officer.

Selinksy formerly conducted research at the institute's Center for Innovations in Medicine. She was also a member of the International Genomics Consortium where she managed the biospecimen repository for the Cancer Genome Atlas Project.


Leif Andersson and Jorge Dubcovsky have received the 2014 Wolf Prize in Agriculture. The Wolf Foundation, an Israeli nonprofit, awards prizes to scientists and artists in the subjects of agriculture, chemistry, mathematics, medicine, physics, and arts each year. The prize consists of a certificate and $100,000.

Andersson, a professor at Uppsala University in Sweden, was awarded the prize for his work in genomic and marker assisted selection as a means to identify superior breeding stock.

Dubcovsky is a plant geneticist focused on wheat genomics at the University of California, Davis.
