NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Paul
Billings has been appointed to Trovagene's board of directors, the company said this week.
Billings is a board-certified internist and clinical geneticist, and currently serves as chief medical officer at Life Technologies. He is also a member of Trovagene's scientific advisory board. Billings also currently serves on the scientific advisory board of the US Food and Drug Administration, the Genomic Medicine Advisory Committee at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine's Roundtable on Genomics.
In addition to Trovagene, he serves as an advisor or director for many companies including Omicia, BioScale, Applied Immunology, Aueon, and Pax Neurosciences.
Exagen Diagnostics, a rheumatology-focused diagnostics company, announced that Arthur Weinstein will become its newest board member and advise the company's scientific team.
Weinstein is a professor of medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center, as well as the associate chairman of the medicine department and head of the rheumatology division at the Medstar Washington Hospital Center.
Gyros AB has appointed Dan Calvo president and CEO, replacing Erik Wallden.
Calvo was most recently president and CEO of Oncimmune USA. He was previously president and CEO of Assay Designs and Cellomics.
PDI said this week that it has named John Climaco to serve on its board of directors.
Climaco co-founded the molecular diagnostics company Axial Biotech, where he served as its president, CEO, and board member. He currently is a director on the boards of DigiRad and Perma-Fix Environmental Sciences, and he practiced corporate and tax law for six years at Fabian and Clendenin in Salt Lake City.
Personalized cancer testing company Iris Biotechnologies has appointed Paul Yaswen to be its CSO, a new post at the company.
Yaswen spent two decades working on breast cancer research at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He also was a fellow in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
CyVek has appointed Bill Dubiel chief commercial officer.
Dubiel joins CyVek from Roche Tissue Diagnostics where he was vice president of sales. Before that he held senior positions at Bayer Healthcare, Chiron, and Ciba-Corning Diagnostics.
